Liberty 9G HDX-150 MICRO Biometric Safe - Safely secure your valuables or handgun in the new Home Defender Review

  • Written by: Amanda Myers

Editor Rating: 4.5/5

The only safe in our list that uses AC or batteries. So, if you are looking for an AC powered safe at an affordable price, this is it.

First, the safe is extremely sturdy and solid. You can scroll down below and you'll find a video showing a vehicle driving over the safe. The safe withstood the impact and did not break.

Second, the safe uses a reliable fingerprint scanner that rarely fails. If the safe is AC powered, the scanner could read your fingerprint and open the door in a second. And if you are using batteries, you could open the safe in less than 2 seconds or 1.63 seconds to be exact. In a case of emergencies, you could rely on the scanner to read your fingerprint accurately and quickly which are the two things that we are all looking for in a biometric.

Third, some people may get disappointed but just to set your expectations. This model of Liberty safe series is specifically made for portability. If you move around from one place to another or travel around different cities, this is perfect for you. You can carry it around but has a security cable to prevent unauthorized individuals from stealing the safe. It is also California DOJ approved and suitable for airline travel requirements.

These are the main features of the safe. It has a lot more and you can check the details by reading further below.

The AC feature is what made me really excited about this safe because most of the safes that we have on our list do not have this feature and a lot of people have been wishing for this feature to address concerns regarding battery draining safes. Most people are worried that batteries might run out without warning or that they find it a hassle to actually have to replace batteries regularly or several times in a year.

This safe has an AC feature so you can plug it in an outlet to ensure consistent performance without timing out. Unlike most battery powered safes, AC powered safes reads fingerprints faster than the battery powered ones. Although, there are few battery powered safes that can perform just as fast.

If you use an AC, the scanner can read a fingerprint in a second. If you use a battery, the scanner can read a fingerprint in less than 2 seconds or 1.63 seconds to be exact.

The safe also includes keys as backup access to ensure that you'll be able to access your valuables without AC or batteries.

The fact that the safe can be AC powered at an affordable price, this safe impressed me more because it could store up to 15 fingerprints. Some safes that are more expensive could only store a fewer number of fingerprints.

This is one of the smallest, most lightweight among all the safes that we reviewed but it could handle the weight of a vehicle without breaking. It is made of solid 14-gauge steel. Check out the video below to see it.

Liberty, the manufacturer, designed this safe specifically for travelers. It is small, slim, and lightweight. If you travel a lot, this safe is perfect for you. It comes with a security cable and does not easily break just in case it falls to the ground while you're carrying it from one place to another.

Other than that, the safe also has light indicator letting you know if the fingerprint is accepted or not or if the battery is running low. Inside, it is lighted so you can pick up your gun appropriately.
