Chemical Guys WAC_201_16 Butter Wet Wax (16 oz) Review

  • Written by: Amanda Myers

So we'll be reviewing another Chemical Guys product which is their Chemical Guys WAC_201_16 Butter Wet Wax (16 oz). It also comes in a gallon size.

Most people are starting to use synthetic sealant more these days than the carnauba wax primarily because synthetic sealant has great longevity compared to carnauba-based waxes.

But for those who are preparing their cars in a showroom, carnauba waxes are the best. They don't last as long but it provides a deeper, richer and more reflective tone of the paint which is astonishingly better from that of a synthetic sealant.

Natural ingredients

The Chemical Guys Butter Wet Wax is a combination of many natural ingredients including of course Carnauba, polymers, resins, lubricating agents and oil for easy, scratch-free application.

It does not contain any kind of harsh chemicals or solvents so it safe on your car paint and the environment as a whole. Because of this, the product is also good for many kinds of surfaces like painted wheels, chrome bumpers, glasswork or windshields and stainless steel exhaust tips.

Carnauba - Queen of waxes

Carnauba comes from the leaves of a Brazil palm called Copernicia Prunifera and it appears as a yellow-brown flake extract.

It has "butter" in its name because the Carnauba wax basically melts into your paintwork bringing out the deeper and richer tone of your paint while giving your car a deep wet look with a smooth, slick feeling to it.

Since this product is naturally gentle with great cleaning ability, it repels the elements, water spots, bird droppings, road tar, light scuffs, tree sap and even overspray failure without eating into your car paint.

It also provides a protective layer from UVA and UVB sun rays preventing your car from fading, cracking, and clear coat failure due to sun rays.

Easy on, easy off

I've never seen a wax that is easier to apply than this. While most car wax products require you to do this and that before, after and during the application. This car wax doesn't have any of those requirements. You can apply it to the sun, wet or dry. In fact, it seems that it is even easier to apply while your microfiber towel is a little moist. It is quick and gives you the results you are looking for from a car wax.

If you want more durability and longevity, we recommend that you apply a sealant over the wax.

This is a great product, better than any other carnauba-based wax products. It's good in a showroom. You can flaunt your car and make it stand out as the product melts into your paint giving it a wet-look and adds more depth and warmth to your paint. If you want your car to look like that each time and you don't mind applying the wax more frequently then this is for you. But if you are more concerned with the protection of the product, this product still protects but in a short period of time only. It can stay on your paint for 3 to 6 weeks depending on weather conditions.

Buy or not buy it: For those who wants the best shine possible for their cars with little to no effort, this is the one for you. You'll enjoy applying it. You will love it, your neighbors will love it. You'll keep getting those compliments.

If you want the best possible protection and non-frequent application, I'd recommend synthetic wax like the Meguiar's Liquid Wax.
